i was originally diagnosed with the osgood schlatter disease when i was going through my growth spurt. then, about a 11/2 years later i still had knee pain. it turned out that i had a different knee problem where my bones had grown too fast and my muscles were way behind with growing. because of this, my knee caps shifted because the inside muscles on my legs couldn't support and hold the knee cap in place. this caused friction since my knees were not in the proper grooves. so it hurt way more. i had to do physical therapy for quite a while to build up the muscles and get my knee caps back into place. this is apparently quite common too.
